Avid Connect 2015 Featured Speakers and Expanded Agenda Announced

By in Avid Customer Association

Avid Connect, the annual conference that unites the community of Avid users, industry leaders, visionaries, and technical professionals, gets underway April 10 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

This 36-hour event celebrates the creativity and passion that Avid Customer Association members live and breathe every day in their work in broadcast, film, and audio.

Not Just any Guy, but the Guy

It took a lot of behind-the-scenes work and calendar wrangling…so I’m especially pleased to tell you that one of our featured speakers this year is Guy Kawasaki. With over 5 million social media followers, Guy is a dynamic presenter and visionary. He’s the chief evangelist of Canva, a graphics-design online service, and is an executive fellow at the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. Formerly, he was an advisor to the Motorola business unit of Google and chief evangelist of Apple. He is also the author of APE, What the Plus!, Enchantment, and nine other books. His talks routinely get rave reviews, making this a “can’t miss” event. Audience members will walk away with a sense of what it takes to create insanely great products and services.

Super Size Talent

Our other featured speaker is Morgan Spurlock. Known globally for his work, Morgan’s first film, Super Size Me, won Best Directing honors at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. The film went on to win the inaugural Writers Guild of America Best Documentary Screenplay award and earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Feature Documentary. Since then he has directed, produced and distributed multiple film, television and digital projects, including the critically acclaimed CNN television series Morgan Spurlock Inside Man. In addition to his film and television work, Morgan has been on the forefront of digital content creation as his company, Warrior Poets, led Hulu’s push into original programming with their first series, A Day in the Life.

Growing Agenda

The expanded agenda is now available. Avid Customer Association members helped define the content for the educational sessions, which tackles challenges in video, audio, and broadcast workflows.

In the Video Everywhere track, we’ll explore 4K and UHD Workflows with Avid Resolution Independence, Cloud Collaboration for Post Production, and Color Management.

The Audio Everywhere track will feature sessions on the Future of Audio Production and Distribution Business Models; the Convergence of Live Performance, Production, and Distribution; and Evolving Workflows for Pro Mixing.

Get an in-depth look at how Avid Everywhere solves the challenges associated with your broadcast workflow in these Broadcast Everywhere sessions: Integrated Asset Management with the MediaCentral Platform, MediaCentral in Action with Univision, and A Day in the Life of the Newsroom with MediaCentral.

The Saturday evening entertainment event will take place at the Brooklyn Bowl, where members can break loose on the 30+ bowling lanes and tuck into some gourmet comfort food.

We’re heads down on finalizing other details that will make this a truly amazing event. Follow us here and on @AvidConnect to get the latest news.

Avid Connect 2015

Our next event is April 10-12 in Las Vegas, immediately prior to NAB. Last year’s event drew over 1,000 attendees and sold out. We don’t want you to miss out, so be sure to save your place now while the early bird pricing is still in effect.

I have spent 20 years as an editor and a story editor on films, docs and TV shows. Working at the highest-rated PBS station in the USA, I have created more than 200 hours of broadcast programming—all on Avid Media Composer.
