See You in Las Vegas for Avid Connect 2015

By in Avid Customer Association

It’s almost here, the weekend we have all been waiting for (drumroll please) AVID CONNECT 2015! With just 3 days to go until we kickoff the event’s first activity, the media community is buzzing with excitement. Not only will we get to spend a weekend networking and collaborating with new friends and coming together with old ones, but we will get to experience the allure of a city often called the entertainment capital of the world.

From the minute your feet hit the street of Las Vegas, you can expect a weekend packed full of engaging conversations with peers and great events. We pulled out all the stops to make this annual 36-hour visionary gathering of the Avid Customer Association an event you will not want to miss. Upon arrival, you should prepare to fully immerse yourself in a weekend of networking, collaboration and insights into Avid’s product development and vision for the industry.

Still a bit curious about what to expect? Picture this—you’ll arrive Friday in Vegas in 70 – 80+ degree weather. You will head to Caesars Palace (Avid Connect 2015 headquarters), pick up your registration materials and get ready for the Welcome Reception that evening. As you get settled in your room and take in the Las Vegas sights, check out the Avid Connect 2015 mobile app and plan your weekend using the Agenda Builder. Submit any questions you have throughout the weekend to the “Ask the Experts” survey in the app and attend Sunday morning’s panel to hear answers from the experts themselves. In addition, make sure you have a few questions about your Avid workflow prepared to ask the Avid Tech Bar experts.

Also welcoming you on Friday evening will be the numerous sponsors that have made this year possible. Check out the Solutions Showcase map on the mobile app and create your list of “must visit” exhibitors including HP, CloudCraze, Aspera, Dolby, Oracle, Bluefish444, Sony, and more. While strolling through the Solutions Showcase, plan to drop by the ACA Leadership Theater to hear leaders from each of the six Advisory Councils share recent momentum, achievements and vision for the future. All this while you sip on a few cocktails and enjoy the sounds of DJ Junior Sanchez.

Once Saturday morning rolls around, it is time to rise and shine! The day begins with breakfast and another opportunity to peruse the Solutions Showcase. Doors will open around 9:15 for the Opening General Session. Starting at 9:30am, Avid Connect officially kicks off with ACA Chairman David Mash.  Avid Chairman, President, and CEO Louis Hernandez, Jr. will be revealing innovations and the next phase of Avid Everywhere. Next, we break for a long networking lunch and yet another chance to browse the Solutions Showcase.  This is the perfect time to catch up with colleagues, gain new business contacts or even soak up some sun.

“Avid Chairman, President, and CEO Louis Hernandez, Jr. will be revealing innovations and the next phase of Avid Everywhere.”

Following lunch, there will be a variety of breakthrough sessions held on various topics for Audio Creative Team & Individual Artists, Video Creative Teams & Individual Artists and Media Enterprise, including Cloud Collaboration for Post Production, Avid Everywhere for Education, Security for the Media Industry, Evolving Workflows for Pro Mixing and more. Make sure you use the mobile app to pick and choose which sessions you want to attend.

The day is not over yet! Members of the Avid community like to work hard and play hard, so when the sun goes down it’s time to celebrate. Test your bowling skills at Brooklyn Bowl, just steps away from Caesars Palace.  And if bowling isn’t your thing, show off your dance moves while you enjoy live music by Butterscotch and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Not too keen on your dancing skills either? No worries, Brooklyn Bowl offers lounge spaces to relax with quiet conversation. There is something for everyone at this Las Vegas hot spot, dubbed by Rolling Stone Magazine as “one of the most incredible places on Earth.”

On Sunday you may find it harder to rise and shine, but it’s worth it to attend the “Ask the Experts” panel. Ask questions directly to Avid experts or through the Avid Connect mobile app and get the answers, while you sip on a cup of Joe. This is your chance to connect with Avid experts on your most demanding challenges or any issues you need addressed. The panel will answer the most requested topics from the weekend’s submissions.

The weekend will come to an inspiring close with keynotes from Morgan Spurlock: winner of Best Directing honors at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival for his film, Super-Size Me and Guy Kawasaki: Chief Evangelist of Canva and author of The New York Times bestseller “Enchantment.”

So pack your bags and join us at Avid Connect 2015 on April 10th in Las Vegas. Share your passion with peers, create new business relationships and help change the future of the industry. See you there!

I have PT 12. Unfortunately, I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5 and have had non-stop problems of all kinds which are too many to list. Does anyone know when PT 12 will become compatible with Yosemite 10.10.5?

    • As of today, Pro Tools 12 is qualified for Mac OS X 10.8.5, 10.9.0 – 10.9.5 or 10.10.0 – 10.10.4. New qualifications are always on-going, but we don’t provide a release date on when they’ll be available. However, you can be notified when available.
