Avid Media Composer’s filler is frequently overlooked and occasionally cursed, especially by new Avid editors who’ve accidentally dragged a piece of filler over clips on their timeline. However, it’s a very powerful filter that acts quite a lot like Adjustment Layers in Adobe Photoshop. Effects placed on filler will be applied to all the video on layers below, including other effects and transitions. This can be used to easily apply effects across large sections of complex edits, or to build creative multifaceted transitions and effects.
