Listen to the Original Song and Score Nominees of the 89th Academy Awards

By in Music Creation, Notation

Music has been a part of film since the beginning of motion pictures. Some of the best pieces of cinema have been defined by their soundtracks – whether they’re musicals, movies starring musicians and artists, or simply films with an extraordinary score.

The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards were unveiled on January 24, with “La La Land” topping the list with 14 nominations. The musical by director Damien Chazelle earned two nominations in the Best Original Song category for “City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream).” On top of that, the Justin Hurwitz-composed soundtrack was nominated in the Best Original Score category.

Fun fact — a total of 91 songs and 145 scores had been eligible for this year’s awards ceremony, with five ultimately nominated in each category. The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 26, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Who would you vote for? Listen to these two official Academy’s Spotify playlists with Original Song and Original Score Nominees and decide for yourself.
