Avid Media Composer is the tool of choice for professional editors. And thanks to the AVX plug-in architecture, developers like Boris FX and Imagineer Systems can create specialized tools to help get the job done. Recently Boris FX made two product announcements for Avid users:
- Boris Continuum Complete 10 plug-ins added integrated mocha tracking & masking technology to the PixelChooser.
- A brand new product was released mocha Pro 5 plug-in for Avid
So while many users have been very excited by the new mocha planar-tracking tools, others have asked: “what is the difference between mocha in BCC and the mocha Pro plug-in?”
In this informative video tutorial, colorist and finishing artist Dan Harvey shows Avid editors the main differences between the motion-tracking workflows available from Boris FX and Imagineer Systems.
Part I. Covers the point-motion tracker built into BCC for simple motion-tracking tasks.
Part II. Covers the integrated mocha/BCC Pixel Chooser (found in BCC 10), which can be used for planar tracking and rotoscoping tasks including effects isolation and screen replacement.
Part III. Covers the new mocha Pro 5 plug-in for Avid, which is best for advanced compositing and finishing tasks. The plug-in harnesses the full power of mocha Pro directly in your timeline, including tracking, roto and the additions of Insert module, the Stabilize module, Lens module and the Remove tool.
