By in Music Creation

We’re set to join over 60,000 Musikmesse 2015 attendees for what promises to be another exciting event for Avid. From a full range of product demos to globally renowned artists, prize draws to exciting product announcements, you can expect to find a packed Avid booth at Stand C76, Hall 5.1.

This year, we’re delighted to welcome four VIP guests artists to the show who’ll talk about their experiences using Avid products.

Musikmesse 2015: Andy Gray

Andy Gray

The multi-talented composer, producer, writer and mixer that is Andy Gray started out as a programmer/engineer and became involved in the 90s UK dance music scene, mixing dance sets for Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, John Digweed, BT and many others.  Andy started co-writing with Paul Oakenfold on many projects including Paul’s solo album Bunkka and remixes for Madonna, U2, and Dave Matthews Band.  He wrote the theme tune for Channel 4’s Big Brother and his music has featured in TV and films including The Bourne Identity, Collateral, Swordfish, Get Carter and CSI Miami, among many others.

You can catch Andy talking about how he has incorporated an Avid Pro Tools S3 into his studio setup and how it influences the way he works. He’ll be presenting at the Avid booth on Friday at 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.

Musikmesse 2015: Frank Heckel

Frank Heckel

Another highly-accomplished artist, Frank Heckel is a composer, orchestrator and conductor for film, television and concert hall. His orchestral works include the WDR Funkhausorchester, Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt, Staatsorchester Saarbrücken, Orchestre National de Lyon, and Philharmonisches Filmorchester München. He has worked for many of the German national broadcasters.  Frank is long-time user of Sibelius and in fact translated the first versions of Sibelius into German and co-authored the book ”Sibelius Praxisbuch” with Wolfgang Wierzyk. He lectures in music theory and film scoring at SAE Institute Frankfurt am Main and works as a Sibelius consultant for composers, publishers and educational institutions.

Frank will be conducting a masterclass (in German) on creativity with Sibelius, discussing process from conception through to scoring, performing and recording the final result. You can hear his ‘Sibelius Masterclass’ at the Avid booth on Thursday at 3:00 PM and again on Friday at 3:15 PM.

We’re also delighted to be joined by the Berlin-based Songwriter and Producer Team, Philip Schardt and Tom Olbrich known as “The Amplifiers”.

Tom Olbrich

The other half of this talented duo, Tom Olbrich is also a producer and songwriter and is perhaps most well known as the co-writer of one of the most successful German singles last year – the official World Cup anthem for Germany, Auf uns, sang by Andreas Bourani. Check out the YouTube video (in German) to hear him interviewed about that experience.

Philipp and Tom will demonstrate the process of songwriting with Pro Tools and might even give you a few tips on how to write a hit single!  You’ll have three opportunities to catch them at the Avid booth ‘Composing and Producing Hits In Pro Tools’ on Saturday at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:45 PM.
