Avid’s New Shared Storage Solution Impresses ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ Editor Barney Pilling

By in Video Editing

Editor Barney Pilling ACE, (Academy Award Nominee, The Grand Budapest Hotel) had been looking for a product like the ISIS | 1000; an affordable solution for smaller post-production houses with the same shared storage capabilities as the  industry-proven Avid ISIS systems. I sat down with Barney at IBC 2015 this year to talk about what the ISIS | 1000 offers to small post production teams.

“It was a bit of a hallelujah moment. The ISIS | 1000 is the ideal solution for smaller television projects that might have three editors, or for a small feature film that may end up with six Media Composer seats.”

Pilling was actually very keen to test the ISIS | 1000 and choke it up with a big project. “I was astonished at how fast the interface now is. There is no wait time. I’m not waiting for bins to load. I’m not waiting while the project aligns itself and tries to find the bin I just asked for. It’s instantaneous. I was presented with the ISIS | 1000 user interface and it was incredibly simple. Creating the work spaces for organizing everything and keeping all the media in check was an absolute breeze. It’s a fantastic piece of kit.”
